Mounjaro Dosage Chart: From 2.5mg to 15mg

Complete Mounjaro dosing guide. Understanding the titration schedule and how to optimize your dose for best results.

By Med Consumer Watch Team
Mounjaro (tirzepatide) uses a gradual titration schedule to minimize side effects while building to an effective dose. Here's the complete dosing guide.

Mounjaro Dosing Schedule

Standard titration:
  • Weeks 1-4: 2.5mg once weekly (starting dose)
  • Weeks 5-8: 5mg once weekly
  • Weeks 9-12: 7.5mg once weekly
  • Weeks 13-16: 10mg once weekly
  • Weeks 17-20: 12.5mg once weekly
  • Week 21+: 15mg once weekly (maximum dose)

You can stay at any dose that's working well. Not everyone needs to reach 15mg.

Key Points

Important dosing information: • Inject once weekly on the same day each week • Day of week can be changed if needed (wait at least 3 days between doses) • Never increase dose faster than recommended • Skipped dose: Take as soon as remembered if within 4 days, otherwise skip • Store in refrigerator before first use

Dose Adjustment

Work with your provider to find optimal dose: • Stay at current dose if side effects are significant • Increase may not be necessary if losing weight adequately • Some people do well at lower doses • Maximum is 15mg but not everyone needs it

Never increase your dose without your provider's guidance. Faster titration increases side effects.

Pen Strengths Available

Mounjaro comes in single-dose pens: • 2.5mg/0.5mL • 5mg/0.5mL • 7.5mg/0.5mL • 10mg/0.5mL • 12.5mg/0.5mL • 15mg/0.5mL Each pen is used once then discarded.

The Bottom Line

Mounjaro's titration schedule takes 20+ weeks to reach maximum dose. This gradual approach minimizes side effects. Work with your provider to find the dose that balances effectiveness with tolerability for you.
