"During your visit you will receive FDA approved appetite suppressants*, You will also get a water pill* for water retention and a vitamin B12 injection to help boost your energy for only $35 a week or $120/Month."$120 a month including a physician consultation and weekly or monthly vitals is far below anything else here. The practice states "NO CHECKS OR ANY INSURANCE" — cash only.
"*Physician will determine if you qualify for prescription Phentermine, HCG or Semaglutide."HCG — human chorionic gonadotropin — is the concern. The FDA has been explicit about this for decades. HCG is approved for certain fertility and hormonal indications. It is not approved for weight loss, and FDA regulations require HCG labelling to carry a statement that it has no substantial evidence of increasing weight loss beyond that from calorie restriction alone, that it does not cause a more attractive or normal distribution of fat, and that it does not decrease the hunger and discomfort of calorie-restricted diets. The FDA and FTC have also taken repeated action against homeopathic and over-the-counter HCG weight-loss products. The weight loss attributed to HCG protocols comes from the severely restricted diets that accompany them — typically 500 calories a day — not from the hormone. Offering HCG alongside semaglutide places a drug with no weight-loss efficacy next to one with large randomised trials behind it, and asks patients to treat them as alternatives.
Our research (August 8, 2026) found Saguaro Medical Weight Control offering Phoenix-area weight loss at $35 a week or $120 a month — far below anything else in this comparison — including a physician consultation, FDA-approved appetite suppressants, a water pill for water retention, a vitamin B12 injection, and weekly or monthly vitals, on a cash-only basis with no checks or insurance accepted. The significant problem is its prescribing menu, which states a physician will determine whether patients qualify for phentermine, HCG or semaglutide. HCG is not approved for weight loss, and FDA regulations require HCG labelling to state that there is no substantial evidence it increases weight loss beyond that from calorie restriction alone, that it does not cause a more attractive or normal distribution of fat, and that it does not decrease the hunger and discomfort of calorie-restricted diets; the FDA and FTC have taken repeated action against HCG weight-loss products, and weight loss on HCG protocols is attributable to the severely restricted diets that accompany them rather than the hormone. Offering it alongside semaglutide places a drug with no weight-loss efficacy next to one with large randomised trials. The diuretic produces fluid loss rather than fat loss and carries electrolyte and dehydration risks, and the B12-for-energy claim applies only to people who are actually deficient. What is sound: phentermine is a genuine approved appetite suppressant, semaglutide is available, a physician consultation is included, eligibility is physician-determined, and weekly or monthly vitals constitute real monitoring at a very low price. Not published: whether semaglutide is brand-name or compounded and at what additional cost, the pharmacy and its 503A/503B status, BMI criteria, or phentermine duration limits.
Attend a visit at the Phoenix-area practice — cash only, no checks or insurance accepted
$35 a week or $120 a month covers the physician consultation and the standard package
The package includes FDA-approved appetite suppressants, a water pill and a B12 injection
A physician determines whether you qualify for phentermine, HCG or semaglutide
Weekly or monthly vitals are taken as part of the program
Ask what semaglutide costs separately and whether it is brand-name or compounded
Decline HCG — the FDA states there is no substantial evidence it aids weight loss
Cost-constrained Phoenix patients who want physician oversight cheaply — provided they take the phentermine or semaglutide route and decline the HCG, water pill and B12 entirely
We assessed Saguaro Medical Weight Control against its published material as of August 8, 2026.
What we verified directly: medically supervised programs at $35 a week or $120 a month; a physician consultation, FDA-approved appetite suppressants, a water pill for water retention and a vitamin B12 injection included; weekly or monthly vitals; a statement that a physician will determine qualification for prescription phentermine, HCG or semaglutide; and a cash-only policy with no checks or insurance accepted.
The HCG listing is the finding. The FDA's position is long-standing and unambiguous: HCG is not approved for weight loss, and its labelling must state there is no substantial evidence it increases weight loss beyond calorie restriction alone. Any weight lost on an HCG protocol is a product of the very-low-calorie diet involved.
The package contents also deserve scrutiny. A diuretic moves water, not fat. B12 raises energy only in deficiency. Both are common inclusions in low-cost weight-loss packages, and neither addresses body composition.
What is genuinely good is the oversight-to-price ratio. A physician consultation plus regular vitals for $120 a month is more clinical contact than several programs charging four times as much.
What we could not establish: semaglutide pricing or brand-name versus compounded status, the dispensing pharmacy, BMI criteria, phentermine duration limits, clinician credentials, clinic addresses, founding year, or independent third-party review aggregates.
"Is Saguaro Medical Weight Control legitimate?" Our assessment as of August 8, 2026.
Official Verification: The practice describes physician-supervised programs with consultations and regular vitals at a stated price, operating on a cash basis in the Phoenix area. We found no evidence of wrongdoing, and the low price appears to buy genuine clinical contact.
Our concern is one item on the menu. HCG for weight loss has been the subject of FDA labelling requirements and FDA and FTC enforcement for years, precisely because it does not work for that purpose. Listing it as an alternative to semaglutide — a drug with STEP-programme trial evidence — invites patients to choose between two things that are not comparable.
The supporting package is padding rather than treatment. A water pill produces a number on the scale that returns as soon as you rehydrate, and carries electrolyte risk. A B12 shot for energy does nothing for someone with normal B12. Neither is dangerous in the way HCG is misleading, but neither belongs in a weight-management plan sold on its merits.
What we would actually use here is the physician oversight, phentermine if clinically appropriate and short-term, or semaglutide — after establishing what it costs and whether it is brand-name or compounded, since it plainly is not covered by the $120.
Red Flags Check:
The Bottom Line: Real physician oversight at a price nobody else here matches, attached to a package built partly from things that do not work. If you go, take the consultation and ask about semaglutide or short-term phentermine — and decline the HCG. The FDA requires HCG products to say in writing that there is no substantial evidence they aid weight loss; that statement is the most reliable guidance available on it. As always, consult your personal physician before starting any new medication program.
