Sesame is structurally different from almost everything else in this category, and that difference is the main reason to consider it. Founded in 2018 and backed by GV with around $90 million in funding, it reports serving more than a million patients across 40-plus specialties in all 50 states. Our research (August 8, 2026) found a genuinely transparent marketplace with an unusually good accreditation record and one billing quirk worth knowing.

It Is a Marketplace, Not a Provider

Sesame does not employ the clinicians. In its own words, "Sesame-affiliated provider practices are independently owned and operated by licensed clinicians who provide clinical services using the Sesame telehealth platform." You browse clinician profiles and reviews, choose the one you want, and book—often same-day. That is the opposite of the standard telehealth model, where an anonymous clinician is assigned to you after a questionnaire. The advantage is real: you can see who you are getting, read what other patients said about that specific person, and choose someone else if you do not like the fit. The trade-off is equally real: provider quality varies, because you are choosing from a marketplace rather than receiving care from a single vetted clinical team.

Pricing Is Published and Low

At $99 a year, the membership pays for itself in ten visits, or in one if you use the free annual lab panel—choices include HbA1c, comprehensive metabolic panel, lipid panel and complete blood count.

Success by Sesame

Launched in August 2024, this is the weight-loss program specifically. It offers access to 14 prescription weight-loss options, including the brand-name FDA-approved GLP-1s—Wegovy, Zepbound, Ozempic, Mounjaro, Saxenda, Victoza, Trulicity and Rybelsus—alongside compounded semaglutide. That brand-name breadth matters. Much of this category sells compounded medication almost exclusively; Sesame gives you a path to FDA-approved products, which have an evidence base compounded preparations do not.

The Record, and the Billing Quirk

Sesame's accreditation is among the best we have found in this category: BBB accredited since December 27, 2022, with an A rating. Its Trustpilot profile runs to thousands of reviews—roughly 4,000 by one independent count. Two complaint themes recur. First, scheduling and inconsistent follow-up—a predictable consequence of the marketplace model, where continuity depends on you rebooking the same clinician. Second, and more concrete: multiple BBB complaints describe paying for lab work a provider never actually submitted, leading to billing disputes. And one specific thing to diarise: Sesame bills on a 28-day cycle, not a calendar month. That produces thirteen charges a year rather than twelve, and it is a documented source of surprise charges for people expecting month-aligned billing.
